NEXUS 8 will be manufactured by HTC and will be the last tablet GOOGLE

HTC NEXUS 8

The site Digitimes today unveiled two information. The first we heard repeatedly, HTC should make the next Google Nexus Tablet 8. The second is more surprising, it may be the last Google tablet. But why the search giant would it end production of its slate?

It will not be the first time that HTC and Google collaborate. This was the case for the Nexus One, the first phone in the Nexus range. If the Mountain View giant has previously appealed to Asus to make its 7-inch tablets, the Taiwanese brand might not renew the contract and focus on its own products, like the Asus Padfone Mini. It is this the reason given by HTC for not making new Nexus products.

Why Google abandon tablets?

The Nexus range has been created in order to set an example for manufacturers, but also popularize Android phones and tablets. Today, sales of Android tablets are superior to those of the iPad, so Google has no real interest in continuing in this direction. The company may, however, continue to offer "Google Edition" of different smartphones on the market, with a raw version of Android, without topcoat manufacturer.
