Google buys solar manufacturer drones Titan Aerospace

Google announced Monday, April 14 the acquisition of solar manufacturer Titan Aerospace UAV, which among other devices could be used to improve internet access in remote areas. Financial terms of the transaction are not disclosed.

Titan, which has twenty employees, do not have any devices in production but has already developed and tested prototypes. Drones, which run on solar energy, are able to maintain for five years to twenty kilometers altitude. They can perform most of the tasks entrusted to geostationary satellites, but are less expensive.
Before Google, Titan had, according to the press, interested Facebook who also wanted to explore new ways to expand the coverage in the internet world.
